At Asking You!, we believe in the saying ‘nothing about us without us’. This means that when governments and organisations make decisions, they should not only include disabled people but decide together with them.

The changes to disability benefits, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP) made by the Labour government have not been made with disabled people.

The language used to explain these changes is inaccessible and confusing.

Accessible information

These changes need to be explained in an accessible way using easy read and plain English summaries. This would make sure that the people these changes affect can understand these changes, support campaigns against them if they choose to and discuss what support they may need from organisations and family and friends.

We encourage the government to publish these changes in as many accessible ways as possible.
