We are working with Connect in the North and local councillors for UK Parliament Week 2022. For this, they are holding events over two days where adults with learning disabilities can meet councillors in Leeds.
Last year, we made a video about the Leeds Learning Disability People’s Parliament. You can watch the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQmcyJ7QPnk
Friday 11th November – Get Ready for UK Parliament Week
The first event is to mark UK Parliament Week. This is where you can learn:
- What the Government do
- The role of the local council
- How you can get involved
At this event, you can also think of questions to ask councillors. The questions we have will be asked in the second event.
This event is from 10am to 12 Noon on Friday 11th November. It is at St George’s Conference Centre, Great George Street, Leeds LS1 1UR.
Friday 18th November – Meet the Councillors
Day two is all about meeting local councillors and asking them how local councils work. At this event, you will find out:
- What they do
- What they can make decisions about
- How you can contact them
In this event, you can ask the councillors questions. They are all from Leeds City Council.
It is at Leeds Civic Hall, Calverley Street, Leeds LS1 1UR. It runs from 10am to 12 Noon on Friday 18th November.
Get involved
Both events are for adults with learning disabilities who live in Leeds.
