The agenda for this year’s People’s Parliament Council Chambers Takeover is out now! We have guest speakers talking about topics like travel, being connected, employment and health.

This meeting is an opportunity for adults with learning disabilities in Leeds to ask councillors about how they can make the city a better place to live for them. The Takeover is part of Leeds Learning Disability Week 2025.

Who are the speakers?

Theme Leads will talk about different areas that might be important to you. They are:

  • Cath Lee is the Business Development Manager for Aspire CBS.
    She is the Theme Lead for Being Safe.
    Chris Charlton co-chairs.
  • David Crake is a social worker on the Adult Travel Project at Adult Social Care.
    He is the Theme Lead for Being Connected – Travel.
    Jonathon Butler co-chairs.
  • Sarah Wheatley is the Learning and Development Manager at Connect in the North.
    She is the Theme Lead for Being Connected – Social.
    Kenny Hendy co-chairs.
  • Dominique Burley is the Senior Development Worker at Forum Central.
    She was the Theme Lead for the Employment task group.
    Shaun Webster MBE and Robert Stephens co-chaired. Kenneth Fletcher will co-chair this year.
  • Rachel Davies is the Lead Professional for the Learning Disabilities and Autism Team.
    She is the Theme Lead for the Being Well task group.
    Ian Buttery co-chairs.

When is the Takeover?

It is on Tuesday 17th June from 10am to 12 Noon. The Takeover is at Leeds Civic Hall. You can find it at this address:

After the meeting, the Leeds Learning Disability Pride March takes place. It starts at the Civic Hall from 12:45pm and finishes at Kirkgate Market.
