At the start of this month, we had an Open Day in our office! Robert, one of our Project Workers, has written a blog post all about what happened and what he liked most about it. Here is what he had to say:

I had a good experience of the Open Day. I enjoyed talking to people, especially visitors from Leeds City Council and GIPSIL.

Our Travel with Confidence project had a filled table with a noticeboard. The board had pictures of the staff team and information about what we have been up to.

We also advertised our mentoring, training and journeys. Travel with Confidence helps people with learning disabilities to travel safely on buses to their chosen destination.

Handouts

BusUsers.org kindly sent us pens for the event and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) gave us keyrings as well. these were great for handouts and a way to promote our partnerships too. We had the Motability Foundation logo on the board, so people could see it clearly.

The event was to promote all our services, mainly the day opportunities such as our Cooking Group, Friendship Group, Out and About Group and MORE!

Our Cooking Group supported the event by making food and cakes for everyone to enjoy. They also made teas and coffees, which was really kind. The staff worked well together to make the event fun.

There were nice decorations including a banner with ‘Asking You’, and other things put together by staff and clients.

Visitors

We had a few visitors, including staff from Leeds City Council. It was lovely to see them wanting to know more about us. We gave lots of useful information to people who came to our stalls.

I liked the cakes and coffees. I enjoyed meeting people who worked in the field. It was a fun day, and hope that everyone who came learnt about what we do.
