Volunteers play a big role at Asking You.

They support people with learning disabilities to take part in activities, share their views, and feel confident in social and community settings.

Our volunteer roles

Learning Disability Citizen Advocate

A volunteer Citizen Advocate is paired up with someone with a learning disability in an advocacy match.

The two people in an advocacy match meet regularly.

The Citizen Advocate helps their advocacy partner by ensuring they feel supported to speak up for their rights.

Day Opportunities Volunteer

This role involved helping our members with a learning disability in our Day Opportunities service.

Volunteers go to our regular daytime groups, which are either in our office or out in the community.

Evening Socials Volunteer

This role involves helping our staff with evening activities to support members.

These include our monthly Club Nights at Popworld, our Pub Nights and weekly Friendship Group.

Steering Group Member

This role involves helping to guide what Asking You does. It is for people with a learning disability who live in Leeds.

The Steering Group meets regularly to look at what we are doing and how we are helping the people we work with.

Volunteer Digital Champion

This role is about helping someone with a learning disability to gain digital skills. This includes using things like apps and smartphones.

Digital mentors help people to use those skills to access services and support.
