LIFE (Leeds Inclusion for Employment) is a project for adults with a learning disability in Leeds who want to know more about their rights and be able to self-advocate in work and for employers wanting to be more inclusive.
What is LIFE?
LIFE runs workshops and courses about self-advocacy at work. Self-advocacy means speaking up for yourself.
The workshops and courses are co-delivered by staff members with a learning disability.
Who is LIFE for?
For people with learning disabilities:
We use workshops, training sessions and accessible resources to help you to:
- Understand your rights at work
- Know how to dress, communicate and work in a team
- Understand reasonable adjustments and how to ask for them
For employers wanting to be more inclusive:
We deliver training on our inclusive hiring model, offer consultations and provide support resources.
This training is to:
- Understand the benefits of inclusive employment
- Know the tools to overcome common barriers adults with learning disabilities face in employment
- Feel confident in employing people with learning disabilities

Our training is delivered by our Project Coordinators, Rachael and Laura and our Trainer, Courtney.
